Last year my wife and I and a small group of people were going over to Doyle’s house once a week for a meeting which went on for I think about three to four weeks. A few days before one of the meetings it began to come up in my heart about God’s calling on my life as an apostle and prophet. Let me say right now there is a big different between being called and actually having Christ the apostle and prophet rooted and grounded in your heart and being crucified with Christ where you can walk by faith in those offices of ministry.
Anyway as it was coming up in my heart about my calling I begin to think about this guy I knew at work years back. He was the lead man for the temporary crew that worked with us. I really admired his leadership ability, I would watch him how he would stand up and take charge and tell this person to do this and that person to do that and they did what he said, because he knew how to be a leader. As I would watch this person, the desires to have that same leadership ability begin to be conceived in my heart. I was weak inwardly, insecure, I made no decisions on my own, but just followed what I was told and I didn’t try to solve problems on my own.
In 1 Cor. 1: 26-29 it says “For you see your calling brethren, how that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise: and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea , and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. These scriptures are simple to understand, if we could fulfill the calling of God on our life in the flesh we would boast in ourselves.
God has to prepare your heart so you can obey him, you don’t just read the bible and go put it to practice, that’s man’s religious ways, that’s flesh and it doesn’t profit anyone. You have to deny yourself and take up the cross daily and follow Jesus, otherwise you will never change, and you will stay a wretched person. If you will follow the Lord Jesus you will be transformed into his image, you will become a partaker of his divine nature.
When the desire to be a leader begin to get in my heart, that was God preparing my heart so he could use me for his purpose. The company I was working for shut down that facility and I went to work at one of their other manufacturing facilities that I had worked at previously. God led me to fight the good fight of faith and obtain the position of floor leader over a group of people that were very much against me. You can read about it in more detail in the testimony I wrote called Laying down man’s honor and this certainly was part of the preparation of my heart. You can’t obey God if you want to please men, because all men are against God, except those who have been converted and I will tell you this, one prayer to receive Jesus doesn’t convert you, wake up you blind religionist. Why do think you got baptized in water? , why do you think God’s apostles have to pray that Christ be formed in you? Do you know the answer to these questions? If not, you need to sit down and shut up and quit preaching lies.
After this stage of God’s preparation was over it was time to move on to the next pathway of righteousness to bring about some more restoration of my soul. In May 1998 God led me to start my own business. It takes courage to obey God and quit a job when you have overcome and obtained a good position and were making good money and go out and start your own business when you are married and have four kids and everybody is depending on you to feed them. Courage is another characteristic of the Lord Jesus (the new man) that God was forming in me.
By the way these changes don’t take place overnight, you have to walk in the word and be led by the Spirit. It was about twenty years ago when God spoke to me and said “I am going to send you before kings and presidents to prophesy against them”, And after all these years I still have unbelief in my heart concerning my calling, I acknowledge it, but there must be religious tradition in my heart, that doesn’t believe apostles and prophets still exist.
So getting back to Doyle’s house that night I shared a few of things that I wrote in this testimony with the group that evening. I also made reference to Philemon 1:6 that the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. God was leading me to acknowledge my calling as an apostle, prophet so that my faith would come effectual for those offices of ministry. Philippians 1:6 states “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
As I continue to use my will to believe the gospel, God continues to work in me both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Phil. 2:13) God spoke to me when I was getting ready to go to the graduation for the Water of Life Christian training school and said “your going to fulfill your ministry.” Thank God for his mercy on my life.
